Hear It From Me

My health journey started in the summer of 2019. Like every other teenager I was bored at home, so I decided to dare my sister to go vegan for a week. Of course, she wasn’t even vegan for a day, but I did. I finish the whole week and it was easier than I thought. So I decided to do a little research. I was watching Netflix and I came across a documentary called Cowspiracy; It is a documentary about the impact of the meat industry on our planet. I couldn’t believe all the harm I and other billions of people were doing, it was unreal. After watching Cowspiracy I watched another documentary called What The Health. It talked about how animal products affect our health and our planet, it also uncovers and reveals the truth behind health associations and how are they linked to industries. Industries will pay millions of dollars for associations to keep recommending animal products which are unhealthy and in some cases dangerous. After watching both documentaries I felt awful and started making daily changes, for a better life. Now I am more conscious about my health and my carbon footprint than ever before.

The changes we make in our own life can have outstanding results, especially if we are good at communicating with others about the way we are doing it. That is why I decided to create a blog. I want my readers to know it is possible to make a change and be better. I decided to name it EVOLET because it means to breathe in Hebrew. What a better meaning for life than the same action that provides it for us.

My name is Michelle, I am 17 years old. I believe change is possible. A couple of years back I would have never imagined the drastic change I have made in just a few months. Since I was little I have always been the skinny girl, I didn’t care about exercise and I ate whatever I wanted. Even once while studying at broad I entered a Baskin Robbins competition and had to eat 1 liter of ice cream with whip cream, sprinkles, and cookies in less than 5 minutes. Now I exercise daily and have a healthier diet. I stopped eating any meat, eggs, milk, and cheese and replaced my proteins with beans, lentils, quinoa, chickpeas and sometimes fish. I do not like to label myself as vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, plant-based or keto. I have a healthy sustainable diet, that will change me and the planet.
